Every metric you need to vet an Instagram creator

Social Checkup turns a public profile into a clear commercial verdict. Here is what each part of the card measures, how it's calculated and why it matters.

Creator grade & score

A single verdict from A+ to F, backed by a score out of 100. The score blends engagement compared with similar accounts (35%), audience authenticity (25%), posting activity (15%), Reel reach (15%) and consistency between posts (10%).

  • Commercial verdict for every grade
  • Percentile within the creator's follower tier
  • Flags scores based on very few posts

Engagement rate & benchmark

Engagement rate is the share of followers who like or comment on a typical post: (average likes + average comments) ÷ followers. Social Checkup compares it with the typical rate for accounts of the same size, because engagement naturally falls as audiences grow.

  • Benchmarked across six follower tiers
  • Shown as a multiple of the tier average
  • Pinned posts and hidden likes excluded

Average likes & comments

Averages from the latest 12 non-pinned posts, plus the like-to-comment ratio. Most organic accounts fall between 4 and 250 likes per comment; outside that range can point to engagement pods, giveaways or bought likes.

  • Included in the Free plan
  • Like-to-comment health check
  • Consistency between posts (Pro)

Sponsorship rate estimates

Estimated fees for a story, an in-feed post and a Reel, plus a feed-post range. Estimates start from audience size, then adjust for engagement quality, Reel reach and bot-risk signals.

  • USD, EUR or GBP
  • Reels priced for reach beyond followers
  • Clearly labelled as a negotiation guide

Bot-risk score

A graded 0–100 score built from public warning signs: engagement far below tier average, follow-for-follow ratios, unusual like-to-comment patterns, Reels that reach very few followers and new accounts with large followings.

  • Low, Moderate or High
  • Lists the signals behind every flag
  • A screening signal, not a follower audit

Posting cadence

Posts per week across recent content and days since the last post. Consistent posting means sponsored content lands in an active feed with a returning audience.

  • Weekly posting rate
  • Days since the last post
  • Warns when an account has gone quiet
Benchmarks

What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

It depends on audience size. These are the typical engagement rates Social Checkup uses as benchmarks for each follower tier.

Typical Instagram engagement rate by follower tier
TierFollowersTypical engagement rate
NanoUnder 10K2.4%
Micro10K–50K2.0%
Mid-tier50K–100K1.6%
Macro100K–500K1.3%
Mega500K–1M1.0%

Engagement rate = (average likes + average comments) ÷ followers × 100, over recent non-pinned posts. Benchmarks are rules of thumb used for comparison, not guarantees.
