There is no official rate card for Instagram partnerships, which makes the first negotiation feel like guesswork. A simple, transparent method helps both sides land on a fair number.
Start from audience size
A common starting point for an in-feed post is a few dollars per 1,000 followers, often quoted in the range of roughly $5 to $10 per thousand. A creator with 40,000 followers would start somewhere around $200 to $400 for a single post.
Then adjust for quality
- Engagement: an account engaging well above its follower tier is worth more than one well below it.
- Authenticity: warning signs of inflated engagement should push the price down, or end the conversation.
- Reel reach: Reels that reach beyond existing followers deliver more views per dollar.
- Niche and audience fit: a smaller creator in exactly your niche can outperform a larger generalist.
Price each placement differently
- Stories disappear after 24 hours and usually cost around a third of an in-feed post.
- In-feed posts are the baseline.
- Reels often cost more than in-feed posts because they can reach people who do not follow the creator yet.
Don’t forget the extras
Usage rights (using the content in your own ads), exclusivity periods, multiple revisions and bundled deliverables all add to the price, so agree them up front.
